President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s efforts to ensure food security for the nation has been described as timely, apt and a right step in the right direction.

Giving the commendation in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) noted that the $1.2bn Agric Mechanisation Loan approved by the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday will go a long way in the realisation of government’s agenda on food security in the country.

Expected to cover 632 local government councils and 140 agricultural processing plants in the country, BMO described the gesture as President Buhari’s deliberate support to move agriculture to the next level in the country’s economic diversification agenda.

“Additionally, the government’s plan to provide 81, 000 metric tonnes of various seedlings to farmers for the current planting season should equally be supported to achieve desired goals”.

“This is one more support given by this administration that was never given by any previous government in the country.”

BMO expressed the hope that Nigerians will support the government in realising its grand plans to revolutionise the sector and properly place agriculture in the front burner in its diversification efforts for the economy.
